What Photoroom actually is
- Core tools cost no credits on any paid plan: Background Remover, Retouch, AI Product Fixer, AI Shadows (Presets), AI Fill, AI Expand/Resize and Image Enhancer, all within fair-use limits
- Credit AI tools draw from a shared monthly pool: Video Generator, Virtual Model, AI Backgrounds Studio and Edit with AI
- Credit pools per month: 8,000 on Pro, 25,000 on Max, 75,000 on Ultra
- Export allowances per month: 100 on Free, 1,000 on Pro, 3,000 on Max, 10,000 on Ultra, and 20,000 / 50,000 / 100,000 on the Ultra 2x, 5x and 10x variants
- Photoroom counts an export as 'any activity that requires Photoroom to provide an image file for external use', which includes downloads, saves, shares and Shopify syncs
- API and MCP usage run on a separate allowance and do not eat your export limit
- AI Fashion Models at 1K on every paid tier, 2K from Max, 4K on Ultra only
- Up to 50 seats on Pro, Max and Ultra, with Spaces, shared designs and a Brand Kit on all three
- Shopify integration from Max upward
Limits and catches
- The free plan is capped at 25 exports per week and 100 per month, and the limit resets monthly
- Free accounts are for personal use only, so anything you sell with needs a paid plan
- Adjustable AI Shadows is Enterprise-only. Even Ultra, at EUR 99 per month, does not include it
- 4K video and image resolution starts at Ultra, and the Video Generator is absent from Pro entirely
- Export limits apply to visual assets up to 2K resolution
- Your monthly credit pool is not fixed worldwide. Photoroom's own FAQ says the amount 'may vary depending on your country or region'
- photoroom.com/pricing served EUR from a Dutch connection on 4 August 2026 and states 'Prices displayed in Euro (Netherlands)', so a dollar figure is a conversion rather than a source value
What does Photoroom cost?
There is a free plan, though the pricing page does not give it a card. Photoroom's help center puts it at 25 exports per week and 100 per month, and a separate help article is blunt about what you may do with them: 'You cannot use a free account for commercial purposes. Free accounts are limited to personal use only.' For a product-photo tool aimed at sellers, that rules out the actual use case.
