Limits and catches

  • The standalone Atlas browser is being discontinued: OpenAI says it stops working on 9 August 2026, and browser-based agentic capabilities move into ChatGPT and Codex instead
  • ChatGPT Work, the agent that took over the longer multi-step tasks Atlas used to do, is rolling out to paid plans only, not to Free or Go
  • OpenAI publishes no hard number for GPT-5.5 Thinking usage on Plus. The instant model runs on a message window of roughly 400 to 2,000 per 5 hours, and sources disagree on the exact figure
  • You need Pro ($100 or $200 per month) for unlimited or near-unlimited access
  • No annual discount on the consumer tiers (Free, Go, Plus, Pro): monthly billing is the only option
